What if the diaspora were the key to the DRC’s economic growth?
According to the World Bank, the economy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is set to grow by just 5.1% in 2025, marking a slowdown compared with the previous year. This trend confirms a continuing reliance on mineral resources, despite their instability and vulnerability to global fluctuations.
But a new era is dawning. The construction, services, digital and creative sectors are quietly emerging, offering sustainable, local and inclusive opportunities. And at the heart of this transformation lies a player that is often overlooked: the Congolese diaspora.
Why involve the Congolese diaspora?
The diaspora represents much more than just a source of remittances. It is a pool of skills, networks, capital and ideas. Across the globe, Congolese people are excelling in technology, education, healthcare, finance, culture and entrepreneurship. Imagine the impact if some of this potential were channelled into concrete projects in the Congo.
A simple calculation: if 1,000 members of the diaspora were each to invest $10,000, that would amount to $10 million injected directly into the country’s real economy.
Where should you invest to make a lasting impact?
